Paul DeWald

With over 18 years of experience in scalable fuel cell system design and integration, Paul leads the engineering team at WATT. In addition to being a founder of WATT, he has been listed as either inventor or co-inventor on the majority of the patents at the company.

Paul was responsible for much of the initial stack and fuel cell module development and subsequently focused on the system when WATT transitioned to building the entire product in-house. He has managed and was instrumental in the embedded firmware, PCBA design, Balance of Plant design, and packaging of WATT’s systems. He was directly responsible for completing the design and test of multiple products at WATT to successfully achieve certification and compliance with ANSI/CSA American FC1, UL-1741, and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 107.1.

Prior to his work at WATT, Paul worked within and led teams of engineers in stack, controls, and packaging design for both liquid and gaseous fuel cell programs.

Paul received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
