Pittsburgh Technology Council Honors WATT Fuel Cell with a Tech 50 Award for Innovation

Mount Pleasant, PA, October 29, 2018 — WATT Fuel Cell Corporation (“WATT” or the “Company”) was awarded a Tech 50 for Innovation in Manufacturing from the Pittsburgh Technology Council at a celebration on October 25th, 2018 in downtown Pittsburgh. WATT was selected for their work developing the company’s patented fuel cell technology and proprietary Additive Manufacturing Process (“AMP”), both of which allow WATT to manufacture commercially viable hybrid fuel cell products for small-scale power applications.

Now in its 22nd year, the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Tech 50 Awards honors and recognizes the most successful and innovative companies in the Pittsburgh region. Fifty companies were selected as finalists across 6 categories. WATT was honored as the category leader in Innovation in Manufacturing. Dr. Caine Finnerty, President, COO and Founder, along with several members of the WATT team were on hand to accept the award on behalf of WATT.

We didn’t realize just how diverse the technology community was in the Pittsburgh area,” said Dr. Finnerty. “We would like to congratulate all of the finalists and are humbled to receive the Tech 50 award for innovation. WATT manufactures the ImperiumTM Solid Oxide Fuel Cell system at their manufacturing facility in Mt. Pleasant, PA. The system creates small-scale power, 500W to 1.5kW, from readily available and easily accessible fuels, such as propane and natural gas, efficiently and quietly with little to no engine noise or harmful exhaust. Imperium’s hybrid power management system integrates renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, and optimizes power storage to provide electricity from the most energy responsible source available at the time of need.
